blog #6: Connecticut School Shooting

I feel that this issue tells us just as much the problem with gun laws in our society as much as violence. This is not the first time there has been a shooting like this, and its time to adjust these laws. The availability of guns in the U.S has become a huge problem, the law was put in place for protection but people are using the weapons for more than just personal protection. The mother of the guy who shot up the school owned 5 guns, including semi automatic weapons. Why does someone need semi automatic weapons let alone 5 to protect themselves? I think this event has taught us that its time to adjust our gun laws and try to start restricting the availability of these guns. Because  the availability of these weapons is what is leading to the huge amounts of violence taking place in society.

  1. I agree with your post, I do not understand why his mother needed more than one firearm and why her autistic son had access to them. These laws need to be enforced in the states! Good post!

  2. I agree with your post as well. The US needs to get their gun laws under control and more structured. Poor young innocent children have suffered due to this. It is unfair and tragic. I hope this gets the government moving to put a more structured law around the use and ownership of weapons.

In texas almost everyone carries a gun. Not only is this unusual but it is unnecessary and dangerous.

  3. I definitely agree with these points! I think this event has taught us a lot about society, starting with the gun law. After one shoe bomb attempt at an airport we now have to take our shoes off for inspection every time we go through security, but many school shootings later and the United States has still not adjusted their laws.

  4. I fully agree, violence in the US is an issue that must be addressed immediately. The right to bear arms definitely has many adverse implications.
